There are many reasons to spend your holidays in the Algarve. Besides the tranquil beaches, mild climate, excellent cuisine, and the region's characteristic hospitality, there are events for all tastes! This is our invitation for a summer holiday in the Algarve. Come and discover the festivals, fairs, exhibitions, and other events that will define the summer of 2025 in the region.

1.     Festival da Sardinha

(5th to 10th August 2025 – Portimão)

The Festival da Sardinha brings together lovers of this typical summer delicacy in the riverside area of Portimão. Besides restaurants serving the renowned sardines in bread, there will also be regional sweets, crafts, and concerts by Portuguese bands over six days. The lineup includes: Rui Veloso (5th), Pedro Abrunhosa (6th), Diogo Piçarra (7th), Nena (8th), Para Sempre Marco (9th), and Resistência (10th).


2.   Lagos Book Fair

(2nd to 12th August — Praça do Infante, Lagos)

The Lagos Book Fair features a variety of activities, including book presentations, traditional game gatherings, exhibitions, storytelling sessions, living statues, board games and chess tournaments.. Check out the programme of activities here.

 

3.     Mar Me Quer Festival

(13th to 15th August – Portimão)

The Mar Me Quer Festival is one of the region's newer events, offering a trendy and youthful atmosphere with a strong focus on environmental causes. The festival site is decorated by visual artists using materials sourced from the ocean, highlighting the urgency of adopting sustainable practices. The Mar Me Quer Festival will feature two stages, with the headliners on the main stage being Calema, Da Weasel, and Plutónio.

 

4.   Noites no Mirante

(8th and 9th August – Monchique)

The events continue, this time in the Algarve mountains of Monchique. The Noites no Mirante is a hit, and this year marks its third edition, offering a blend of music and gastronomy. The line-up includes:

• 8th August: Richie Campbell, Karetus, Queen Tribute.

•9th August: Clã, Amy Winehouse Tribute, and M80.

 

5.     MotoGP 2025

(7th to 9th November– Portimão)

The world’s most prestigious motorcycle championship returns to Portugal. The top 22 riders on the planet, riding the fastest bikes — reaching speeds over 350 km/h — promise thrilling action. The spotlight will be on Miguel Oliveira, representing Portugal.

 

6.    Fatacil

(22nd to 31st August  – Lagoa)

The Lagoa Fair of Crafts, Tourism, Agriculture, Commerce, and Industry – Fatacil – began in the 1980s and remains one of the most significant events in the Algarve. For 10 days, it offers restaurants, craft exhibitors, and music for all tastes. This year's line-up includes: Fernando Daniel (22nd), M80 Party (23rd), Badoxa (24th), Nininho Vaz Maia (25th), Wet Bed Gang (26th), Van Zee (27th), Quim Barreiros (28th), Matias Damásio (29th), Delfins (30th), and closing the event, Mariza (31st).

 

7.   Banho 29

(night  of 28th to 29th August– Lagos)

Banho 29 in Lagos is a highly anticipated event, not just by locals, but also by visitors. On the night of 28 to 29 August, friend groups gather on the city's beaches for a midnight dip in the sea. It is said that this swim counts as 29 and is a traditional summer-ending ritual passed down through generations. In the city centre, there are concerts and a vintage swimwear contest. While the full line-up hasn’t been announced yet, Rebeca will be headlining the festivities. If you’re staying at the Belmar Resort during this time, don’t miss the chance to take part in this Algarvian tradition.

 

8.       Feira da Dieta Mediterrânica

(4th to 7th September – Tavira)

The Feira da Dieta Mediterrânica has been taking place in Tavira since 2013. It contributes to environmental preservation, and sustainable agriculture, and promotes healthy and delicious food. At this fair, you can expect craft exhibitors, botanical displays, traditional products, music, and other activities such as dance and performing arts. The program for this Algarve event is still being finalised, but you can stay updated on the Feira da Dieta Mediterrânica's website.
