There are countless reasons to spend your holidays in the Algarve, but besides the obvious ones, such as the quiet beaches, the mild climate, the excellent cuisine and the characteristic hospitality of the locals, there are also events to suit every taste! This is the motto of our invitation for your next summer holiday in the Algarve. 1.    GC32 Racing Tour - Lagos Cup

From 21 to 25 June | Lagos

The GC32 Racing Tour is a circuit of sailing races with GC32 catamarans. The tour was launched in 2013 and consists of several stages held in different locations around the world. The Lagos Cup is one of the stages of the GC32 Racing Tour and will take place from 21 to 25 June 2023. Since the 2022 edition, the city of Lagos has renovated the infrastructure to host this nautical event. The competition welcomes professional sailors from all over the world who inspire lovers of the sport. The second stage of the competition will take place from 10 to 14 July. (More info)

 

2.    Adriana Calcanhotto - Concert

23 June | Teatro das Figuras - Faro

Adriana Calcanhotto sings, enchants and composes her songs. She is known for her soft voice with which she interprets some compositions full of poetry. She is best known in Portugal for the songs "Fico assim sem você" and "Vambora". The musical genres in her repertoire are based on Brazilian popular music, pop and bossa nova. On 23 June, Adriana Calcanhotto brings her show "Errante" (Wandering) to the Teatro das Figuras in Faro - the same name as her latest album, released in March this year. (More info)

 

3.    Afro Nation Festival

28 to 30 June | Praia da Rocha - Portimão

The Afro Nation Festival will take place for the third time on the sandy beach of Praia da Rocha in Portimão. The last editions were a success, and this year will be no different. The festival brings big names in hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, afro house, bashment and more to the Algarve. The 2023 edition is expected to feature 57 artists, including 50 Cent, Wizkid, Davido, Booba, and Burna Boy. Visitors will be able to enjoy live shows, DJs, beach parties, and other activities related to music and Afro culture during the event. (More info)

 

4.    MED Festival

29 June to 1 July | Loulé

The MED Festival celebrates the world music and offers a unique experience in the streets and squares of Loulé from 29 June to 1 July. In addition to the musical performances, the MED festival also offers a diverse supporting programme. This includes workshops, craft stalls, cinema, film concerts and much more. The festival aims to offer visitors an intense experience of world culture. Some of the guest artists are Omar Souleyman (Syria), Club Makumba (Portugal), Horace Andy (Jamaica), AYWA (Morocco/France) and many more. (More Info)

 

Rolling Loud Festival

5 to 7 July | Praia da Rocha - Portimão

Rolling Loud is a hip-hop music festival that has been held in the United States in Miami, Los Angeles and New York. In 2022, it debuted in Portugal and had great success. For this reason, it returns to the sandy beach of Praia da Rocha in July. This year, Travis Scott, Playboi Carti and Meek Mill will be on stage. The line-up is rounded off by renowned artists from the world of hip-hop and trap such as Central Cee, Kodak Black, Lil Durk and Glorilla. (More info)

 

Mediaeval Fair of Silves

10 to 20 August | Silves

The Silves Mediaeval Fair is a historical recreation of the Middle Ages, where visitors are transported back to the Middle Ages through themed scenarios, games, music, gastronomy and other experiences that take place during the 10 days of the fair. Visitors are invited to dress up in period costumes and exchange their euros for xilbs, the currency used in the ancient capital of the Algarve. This event is a landmark summer event in the Algarve and is suitable for the whole family. (More info)

 

Fatacil

From 18 to 26 August | Lagoa

For those who don't know yet: FATACIL is a Portuguese acronym for the Crafts, Tourism, Agriculture, Trade and Industry Fair in Lagoa. Maybe this way you can understand what can happen at the next edition of Lagoa's famous fair. Every year, several exhibitors from national companies come together to present the best that Portugal has to offer. Besides the business exhibitors, there are also stands for handicrafts, food and drink or clothing. FATACIL offers visitors various experiences, and there are always concerts at the end of each night of this event. This year, the following artists will be performing: Richie Campbell, Toy, Bárbara Tinoco or Quim Barreiros. (More info)

 

Banho 29

From 28 to 29 August | Lagos Beaches

The Lagos Banho 29 is a highly anticipated event not only for the people of Lagos but also for its visitors. On the night of 28-29 August, several groups of friends gather on the city's beaches to take a midnight dip in the sea. This bath is considered the equivalent of 29 and is nothing more than a closing ritual of the summer that is passed down from generation to generation. Concerts and the antique swimming costume competition take place in the city centre. If you are staying at the Belmar Resort at this time, be sure to take part in this Algarve tradition.
